What are you doing today that will still have an impact 100 years from now?
In the conclusion of our "Pathways" series, Dr. Roger Patterson explores the "Pathway of Permanent Purpose" through the life of King David. Drawing from 1 Chronicles 29, we see a powerful example of a leader who prepared for a future he would never personally inhabit. David’s final act wasn't building a house for himself, but preparing the resources for the next generation to build a house for the Lord.
In this sermon, Dr. Patterson shares five principles of permanent purpose:
Hearts Anchored in God: True legacy begins with a heart aligned with God’s eternal plan.
Looking Beyond Current Leadership: Investing in the leaders and worshipers of tomorrow.
Generational Worship: The strength found when multiple generations honor God together.
Sacrificial Joy: Understanding that what we "give up" for God’s Kingdom, we actually keep for eternity.
Confirmed Purpose: Seeing God raise up the next generation to lead what we have helped build.
Whether it’s the 98-year history of West University Baptist Church or the future of our Missouri City and Bellaire campuses, our obedience today becomes the foundation for someone else’s calling tomorrow. Join us as we reflect on what it means to make a "courageous choice" over a "safe choice" for the sake of the Gospel.
